Europe is going through a historic energy transition in which both Germany and Norway can play a crucial role. Norway can become a pillar of European renewable electricity supply by increasing its energy efficiency, renewable energy production, and by making its existing hydro- power reservoirs available to balance growing amounts of wind and solar in other countries. Germany on the other hand needs to continue its efforts to implement the Energiewende, and give high priority to rapidly increasing the shares of renewables and reducing coal consumption. A successful energy transition needs political leadership to overcome the many obstacles our renewable electricity future still faces. Are we ready?

In the panel:
Siri Meling, First Vice Chair, Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment
Oluf Ulseth, Director, Energi Norge
Rainer Hinrichs-Rahlwes, President, European Renewable Energy Council and Board member, German Renewable Energy Association
Silje Lundberg, Leader, Natur og Ungdom
Raffaele Piria, Programme Director, Smart Energy for Europe Platform
Chair: Marius Holm, Managing Director, ZERO.

The panel was followed by a debate with the public.
